This Privacy Policy explains how Scout frl (“Scout”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and stores information when you use the Scout app. Please read it carefully.

01 Who we are

Scout is a video-sharing app. This policy applies to the Scout mobile application and any related services we operate.

02 Information we collect

Information you provide at sign-up

Email address — used to create and secure your account.
Username — your public identifier on Scout.
Password — stored securely; we never see it in plain text.

Information you add later (optional)

Display name
Bio
Location — free text you type yourself. We do not collect your device’s GPS location.
Profile picture

Content you create by using the app

Videos you post (drops, challenges, responses, and video comments)
Likes, saves, and kudos you give or receive
Accounts you watch
Reports and blocks you submit

Device information we collect automatically

Push-notification token — so we can send you notifications. You can disable these in your device settings at any time.
Camera, microphone, and photo-library access — requested only at the moment you record or pick a video. We do not access these in the background.

What we do not collect

Phone numbers
Payment or card details
Gender
Date of birth
GPS or precise device location
Your device contacts

Note on Kudos

Kudos are an in-app feature only. They cannot be purchased, transferred, or cashed out, and this app is not a payment system.

03 How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and maintain your account
Display your profile and content to other users
Deliver push notifications you have enabled
Process videos you upload
Allow you to interact with other users (likes, saves, kudos, follows, reports, blocks)
Improve and operate the Scout service

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

05 Data retention

Please read this

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see Section 6 below), your login credentials are removed. Please note that at this time, your profile and videos may remain visible on the platform after account deletion. We are actively working to improve this and will update this policy when full erasure is available.

06 Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time using the Delete Account button in the app’s settings. This removes your login access. As noted above, your profile and content may remain visible while we complete work on full data erasure.

07 Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Object to or restrict how we process your data
Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

08 Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Your password is never stored in plain text. Data is stored and transmitted securely via Supabase and Google Cloud infrastructure.

09 Children

Scout is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of Scout after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
